buttercup doodles

Hello everyone! Well, today was the big day – my first live TV shows demonstrating for Clarity Crafts on Create & Craft TV! Such an intense experience – the hour long shows just fly by (I may have to watch them back online on catch-up, as it’s all a bit of a blur), but huge thanks to everyone for all the support and encouragement! Anyway, I thought I’d share with you a walk through the final card I demo’d on the second show – my other cards will follow over the next few days. This one uses the KISS ‘buttercup doodles’ stamp set designed by Tina Cox together with the ‘simple frames’ stencil that comes in the bundle with the stamps.

I started with the stencil circle and created five interlinked ones using Distress Oxides and Clarity brushes: ‘salvaged patina’, ‘tumbled glass’, ‘broken china’, ‘peacock feathers’ & ‘evergreen bough’, simply repositioning the stencil each time and working through the shades from light to darker. I then stamped one of the circle sentiments with black Archival ink, together with a few of the flowers. I used a micron pen to doodle the birds and to add the ground for the bottom flowers, before colouring them with Pergaliner pencils.

I then simply mounted it on a layer of Indian Summer companion paper, added a narrow black card mount and attached it to a 7×7 card blank.

Layering up the stencil like this gives the background more dimension and you could do this in lots of different colour combinations (pinks through to purple or yellow through to orange) – so much potential! I’m going to share this one with a few blog challenges as well: Inkspirational, Stencil Fun (I’ve incorporated their optional twist of birds) and Just Add Ink

  1. Lovely card Deborah – the colours work so well together. I had a gander at your show just now – absolutely well done…..I couldn’t tell you hadn’t done it before – maybe it’s ‘senior nurse’ thing, but I find we just get it done, don’t we…..? Congrats once again. xx

  2. What an absolute joy it was to watch your demonstrations on Create and Craft today – calm, collected and focused on the product, not digressing … I SO look forward to watch you again, hopefully very soon. Very best wishes, Jutta
