Hello crafty friends and welcome to another dip into the back issues of Clarity‘s stencil Craft Club – it’s been a few weeks since I last shared one of these! Today it’s #99 the ‘box work stencil’ which, I have to be honest, hadn’t seen any ink until now! I was inspired by Jilly Clifton’s design on the project sheet using a Gelli plate, so got mine out to put my own twist on it. I struggled a bit with the box pattern, then decided to pull in a couple of the ‘clever corners’ stamp sets and away I went!

I popped my Gelli plate onto a megamount, laid the stencil onto it and used my brayer to run ‘peacock feathers’ and ‘evergreen bough’ across it. I carefully lifted the stencil off, gave it a quick spritz with water and laid it face down on a piece of stencil card. I then ran it through my embossing machine to transfer the ink onto the card. After that, I pressed the Gelli plate onto a second piece of card to pick up the negative print from there. I got a third background as I used a scrap piece of card to clean my brayer with each ink!

I worked on the stencil print first, using one of the ‘calligraphy’ clever corner stamps, which I added into two of the squares on the background. I then used low tack tape to mask off the lines on each side of the stamp and added the central part into the other corners.

I added the single letterbox from the ‘penguin alphabet’ set into the central square, and ‘with love’ from the ‘penguin mini sentiments’ stamps. A mount of black card set it off nicely and it went onto a 6×6 card blank.

With the gelli print background, I used one of the ‘honeysuckle’ corners , simply repeat stamping it four times. I then used a square nested die to cut it down (that way I could ensure the image was central), added the sentiment from the KISS ‘celebrate your day’ set and once again finished with a black mount onto a 6×6 card blank.

So that’s another two-for-one this week – happy days! I’m off to share these with the challenges at The Paper Players, Inkspirational and Stencil Fun. See you tomorrow!

Love these – they turned out so well! Gelli plates are fun but I never remember to get mine out to play! I actually ‘thought’ about it today when I saw a piece of bubble wrap in my studio but I was working on something else and promptly forgot about the bubble wrap! Bahahaha!
