Colour challenge #528 at CAS Colours & Sketches

Hello everyone! Exciting news to share today, as I’ve joined the design team over at CAS Colours & Sketches, one of my favourite blog challenges – I’m so delighted! Here I am then to share my first DT card for their first challenge of 2024 with a gorgeous colour palette from Jeanne, which works so well with one of the ‘retro bubbles’ stamps from ClarityCrafts that Barbara launched on Sunday and picks up the sketch from AAA Cards (which I flipped).

I started by stamping the sentiment and row of doodled circles onto a square of stencil card using black Versafine Clair ink, then heat embossed them with clear powder. I used three Pergaliner pencils to shade in the doodles pattern, smoothing out the colours with Dorso Oil and a blending nib.

I then simply added a mount of a co-ordinating cardstock and attached the whole piece to a 7×7 card blank.

So how are you inspired to use these colours? There’s more ideas from my design teammates over at the CCAS blog to get you started, and you have until Monday 22nd January to play along as our challenge is now fortnightly.

  1. Firstly congrats on your new DT role at CAS Colors & Sketches – that’s exciting, awesome news and a wee bit scary at times speaking as I’m also a newbie DT for AAA. Thanks for combing your first DT Card with the sketch at AAA Cards. I do love your take on the sketch. All the best for your 2024 crafting year it should be a lot of fun.

  2. Love this Deborah – I’m sure it’s the colours that make those circles look like modern flowers (nothing like the power of suggestion!) This is one of those super-versatile stamps and makes for a lovely CAS card. So excited to have you on the CC&S team this year!

  3. Congratulations on your Design Team – way to go. I’m very pleased for you – and you have hit it out of the park with this design. I am also going to have to look into that oil – thanks for the heads-up. xx
