12 Days of Clarity 2023 – October

So here we are on day 10 of my 12 Days of Clarity series, with the ‘O Christmas Tree’ stamp from last October’s Craft Club. I was inspired by the layout at Freshly Made Sketches and the colours at Just Us Girls for another early 2024 Christmas card, which I’ll also share with Merry Little Christmas

I started with a 5×7 card blank and used a rectangular embedder to create a frame on the card front. I stamped the tree into the centre of the frame with ‘library green’ Archival ink, then cut a mask for it from a sticky note and stamped another tree on each side.

Out came my trusty Pergaliner pencils and I coloured in the swirls in each tree, initally using navy and teal. The navy looked a little harsh against the green outline I thought, so I blended a little dark green into each of the swirls to shade them. The trees have a dotted outline, which a green Pergacolour pen filled in perfectly – there’s something very therapeutic about sitting and putting dots around an image!

I brushed a little green ink across a torn piece of copy paper to ground the trees and finished with an appropriate word sticker (I know FMS’ sketch has the sentiment across the centre, but I didn’t like it across the trees so popped it along the bottom!)

So that’s another in the bag for next Christmas – if I can keep this up through the year then life will be a lot less stressful next November/December…!!

  1. You choice to add the sentiment underneath rather than across the trees was a wise one. I think it would be lost if elsewhere. Those trees are great by the way.
