12 Days of Clarity 2023 – September

Hello again! It’s day 9 of my 12 Days of Clarity, so here’s a card using the ‘sunflower panel’ stamps from ClarityCrafts‘ September Craft Club. I’ve combined the sketch from Global Design Project with the new colours from Color Throwdown on this one.

The first step was to cut a piece of stencil card to fit a 5×7 card, keeping it the same length but narrower than the card blank. I stamped the ‘sunflower panel’ with black Archival ink, then used a micron pen and a ruler to extend the strip across the card before colouring the image with ivory & cream Polychromos and an olive green Pergaliner pencil.

I cut a mask for the image from a sticky note, using a strip of low tack tape to mask the rest of the panel. I then brushed ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide through the ‘brick wall’ stencil as a background to the flower (top tip – I just flicked the brush outwards from the flower each time, working round the image, to leave a soft edge).

Having stamped the sentiment across the panel, I added a scrap piece of card to the back of the topper. I glued a strip of navy card down each side of the card blank, then attached the topper over them (the scrap card on the back filled in the gap between the card strips so the topper sat level.

Five days to go on this series, which takes me just past Twelfth Night when the Christmas decorations will be coming down!
