Clarity craft club lookback – flower confetti stencil

Hello crafty friends! Well, it’s finally Christmas Eve and as it’s Sunday I’ve dipped back into Clarity‘s Craft Club for the next stencil in my series – although it’s a floral pattern one it felt right to turn it to a Christmas theme with the colours from Just Add Ink, which also picks up the challenge from Stencil Fun

I decided to use two of the flowers on the stencil to make poinsettias – you’ll see there is actually a pair of every floral shape and I went with the one that most resembed poinsettia bracts (they’re not petals!) I started with the larger of the pair, using ‘festive berries’ Distress Oxide and a spot-on sponge to cover a small square of stencil card. I then repeated it with the smaller matching image, this time offsetting it over the first ones.

I felt it needed some leaves, so hunted through my stencils and realised that the smaller ones on ‘TIna’s floral spray’ were about the right size. I used low tack tape to mask off a single leaf, then sponged ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxide through it, repeating it around the flowers. Having made sure the ink was fully dry (I gave it a quick blast with my heat gun), I went back to the floral stencil to ink in the centres of the flowers with a WOW embossing pen so I could heat emboss them with gold powder (I did them one at a time).

Having embedded a square frame on a 5×5 card blank, I attached the topper to a layer of green card and then to the card front, finishing with a suitably festive word sticker.

Wishing you all a happy and peaceful Christmas!
