starry star flowers at Alphabet Challenge

Hello crafty friends. It’s time for our next letter at Alphabet Challenge and Dawn has opted for S for Stars – I haven’t gone with the expected seasonal card for my DT offering, instead picking up the ‘star flowers’ from Clarity Crafts and giving them a suitable sky with the ‘starry burst’ stencil, adding in the colours from The Paper Players.

I stamped the spray of flowers onto white stencil card and used the infill stamps from the set to add the colours – ‘picked raspberry’ for the petals, ‘mermaid lagoon’ for the little sprays, ‘festive berries’ for the seed pods and Versafine black for the leaves. I lightly blended the Versafine black over Clarity’s ‘hills’ mask for the landscape, then brushed the ‘mermaid lagoon’ through the ‘starry burst’ stencil, just using the small stars from the top of the stencil and repositioning it several times to fill the space. I blended a little more of the ‘mermaid lagoon’ around the edge of the card to soften it, but leaving a white highlight in the centre.

I finished with one of the ‘essentials sentiments’ stamped directly on the card, ran a black Sharpie around the edges and attached it to a white 6×6 card blank.

It’s a bit of a different look for the fllowers – what do you think? Come on over to Alphabet and check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team, then play along with us – our challenge ends on December 28th.
