Hello crafty friends. I’m back with the last challenge of the year from CAS Colours & Sketches and my final one as their guest designer. This time, the challenge is to choose any previous one from 2023 (they are all over on their blog) and make is a seasonal card. I decided to go with a double challenge (sketch and colours) from back in August, using one of the new ‘winter tags & frames’ stamps from ClarityCrafts to make a Christmas card (you already know that I like using non-traditional colours!) I’m also going to share this with The Paper Players for their Christmas themed challenge.

I’ve used the pentagon shaped wreath from the set for this card and started by stamping it with ‘fern green’ Archival ink at the side of a square of stencil card that I’d cut to fit a 6×6 card blank. I added the hanger in the green and then used a combination of Pergaliner pencils and Pergacolour pens to colour in the image, blending them together to get the right tones.

I used low tack tape to mask off the sides of the frame, then brushed ‘shaded lilac’ Distress Oxide across the clouds mask from the ‘build-a-scene’ set to make it look like a window scene and added a few birds with a micron pen.

I stamped the sentiment with the ‘fern green’ ink, mounted the card on a layer of Indian Summer companion paper and attached it to the 6×6 card blank.

Have you got a favourite sketch or colour combination from our 2023 challenges? Turn it into a seasonal card and share it with us in the CAS Colours & Sketches gallery!
