merry little penguin Christmas

Hello craft friends! I’m back with another outing for Percy Penguin – he’s well wrapped up against the cold now the temperatures have really dropped here in the UK! He’ll be out and about on the ClarityCrafts website over the coming weeks, together with his friends & family from the colony as Clarity’s annual advent hunt starts tomorrow – every day there’ll be a clue on the website to help you find where one of the penguins is hiding (24 in total up to Christmas Eve!)

Percy’s home colony is the ‘family of penguins’ stamp set and this card was inspired by the sketch at The Paper Players, picking up the favourite holiday song theme from TGIF challenges

I started with a 6×6 card blank and stamped Percy and one of the Christmas Quotes stamps into the centre with black Archival ink. I covered him up with the pre-cut mask that comes with the stamps, before sponging ‘peacock feathers’ Distress Oxide onto Clarity’s small square backdrop stamp and stamping it into place over the images.

I used a square piece of Clarity’s mask material to cover over the stamped background, so that I could then add snowflakes in opposite corners with a couple of the ‘SHAC baubles – Merry Christmas’ stamps (I used second, third and fourth generation images, stamping them off on a piece of scrap paper first). I finished by shading Percy’s hat and scarf with a couple of red Pergaliner pencils.

Thanks for dropping in. It’s another cold day here today and forecast to remain so for the next week – winter has definitely arrived!

  1. I love that little penguin all wrapped up in his scarf of Dr. Who proportions – much needed out here today though!! With the snowflakes, a perfect Christmas combo. Thanks for sharing with us over at The Paper Players this week Deborah!

  2. What a great card, Deborah! What’s not to love about this card – the square format, the ink blended square, the soft red, white & blue colors, etc….. Thank you for joining us here at The Paper Players.
    Xoxo, Fran
