Hello again! I’m still powering through Christmas cards – this one features the ‘twiggy bauble’, a new design from ClarityCrafts that’s been around for a couple of weeks. Barbara Gray drew it and is donating all the proceeds from it’s sales over the next few weeks to Children in Need (it launched on the night of their telethon). I took inspiration for this card from the layout at Hand Stamped Sentiments, the colours at Creative Colour challenges and the ‘anything goes’ Christmas theme at The Holly & Ivy

I started with a square of Clarity’s stencil card and used brushes to blend ‘speckled egg’ and ‘mermaid lagoon’ Distress Oxides across it. I went over it with my heat gun to make sure the ink was fully dry before then stamping the larger bauble & heat embossing it with WOW’s copper powder, adding the little hanger as well. I added the tree branches in the mermaid lagoon, using first and second generation stamping (all that means is you repeat stamp the image without reinking it for the second time, which gives a lighter image)

I heat embossed the sentiment with the copper powder as well (it’s not in the same place as in HSS’s sketch, but I hope they’ll forgive me!), then deepend the colour in the bauble by adding a wash of both inks with a waterbrush. I mounted the topper on a layer of copper card and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I don’t think you can ever have too many Christmas bauble stamps in your stash!

Such a great effect with the inking and blending. The second generation stamping really does add dimension. xx
