birthday scenes

Welcome to my crafty blog and a birthday card for a change! I’ve made good use of the ‘build-a-scene’ collection from ClarityCrafts with the ‘meadow flowers’ stamps and the masks, taking the palette from Creative Colour Challenges and the layout from Atlantic Hearts challenge. I’m also sharing it with Seize the Birthday – they’ve listed flowers as one of their options under their ‘fall’ topping theme, but it doesn’t look very autumnal to me so I’m sticking with ‘anything goes’.

I started with a small piece of scrap white card, added a mini moon mask and brushed ‘stormy sky’ across the clouds mask and ‘peeled paint’ across the hills (it’s a bit more greeny, but the closest I’d got to CCC’s whild wheat). I switched the moon mask for the outer part and sponged ‘scattered straw’ to create the sun. I then repeated the process with the other pieces to form the layout.

I added varioous arrangements of the flowers from the set onto each piece of card, using black Archival ink, then mounted them onto a piece of Northern Lights companion paper that I’d cut to fit a 5×7 card blank.

To finish, I atatched it to the card blank, then stamped one of the ‘occasions sentiments’ onto a strip of white card and added it in the gap.

These stamps and masks are right in my happy place, creating little scenes!
