red deer

Hello again! Today’s card showcases the ‘christmas deer’ aperture round die, another goodie that’s currently in ClarityCrafts‘ Gray Friday sale. I thought it would work well with the red & gold scheme from Color Hues, together with the themes from Time Out and The Holly and Ivy, and the top row (family critters, die cut & layers) from TicTacToe‘s grid.

I took a piece of dark red card, cut to 6×6 (15cm square) and die cut the deer into the centre. I put a piece of Clarity’s super sticky double sided adhesive sheet onto the reverse of the card, leaving the backing sheet in place and using the cover piece on the front of the card to stick the die cut firmly in place. I covered it with ‘variegated gold’ (M2) gilding flakes and rubbed them down to stick to the exposed adhesive.

I mounted the whole piece onto a layer of gold card and attached it to a 7×7 card blank. It still needed something more, so I cut a frame using the ‘nested square film strip frame-it panel’ dies. These cut a frame into the edge of a square, so I also used the next size down to cut the inner edge, leaving me with just the frame, which I glued onto the card front. The final touch was one of the KISS word stickers.

Red deer are a native British species, but I don’t think they’re quite this vibrant in real life!
