Hello there! I’m back with a quick post today featuring the stencil from ClarityCrafts October craft club (#113) as a last minute offering for a couple of challenges that end today. I took the colours from Creative Colour Challenges and the layout from Atlantic Hearts, and am also going to share it with Stencil Fun
I started with a 6×6 square of kraft card (I cut one of Clarity’s card blanks in half), laid the stencil on it and masked off the area I didn’t want so I just had three of the large snowflakes exposed. I used a couple of their stencil brushes to blend ‘kitsch flamingo’ and ‘stormy sky’ Distress Oxides onto the snowflakes. I do like these colours on the kraft card but felt it needed something to lift it a little, so sprinkled WOW’s ultra high embossing powder over them and melted it with my heat gun (always do this from underneath as there’s no ink holding the powder in place – try and do it from the top and it will just end up all over your floor!!)
I wanted the snowflakes to remain the star of the show, so simply added a white card mount, attached it to a 7×7 card blank and finished with a word sticker.

Sometimes we are too close to our own work. I find leaving it for a while helps me form a different opinion and this is also helped by comments made by others.

Love the snowflakes on the kraft cardstock. The kraft gives a totally different feel to the snowflakes. Thanks for the tip about heat embossing from below. Thanks for joining us at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.
