star bauble

Hello crafty friends. I’m busy trying to ahead with my own Christmas cards after all my recent design team samples for ClarityCrafts, so today have revisted the ‘SHAC bauble – merry Christmas’ stamp set released earlier this year. I took inspiration from the colours at Creative Colour, adding in the centre row of sparkle, holiday sentiment & a free option from TicTacToe‘s grid, together with the ‘anything goes’ theme at The Holly & Ivy Christmas challenge

I started by creating a frame on the front of a 6×6 card blank using a large square embedder, then stamped the star bauble in black Versafine Clair ink and heat embossed it with WOW’s clear sparkle powder. I used a grey Polychromo pencil to shade around the star, which I then coloured with ‘picked raspberry’ Distress Oxide and a waterbrush, before adding ‘villainous potion’ around the outer part of the bauble (these are the nearest shades I’ve got to Creative Colours’ palette).

I covered the bauble with the pre-cut mask from the set, then laid the ‘starry burst’ stencil over it (masking off the largest star) and lightly brushed ‘shadow grey’ Archival ink across it.

To finish I stamped the sentiment several times in the ‘shadow grey’, drew a string for the bauble to hang from using a micron pen and a ruler, and placed silver adhesive dots in the small circles on the bauble.

Thanks for dropping in. I rather like these soft grey stars in the background against the vibrant bauble. Here’s another close-up of the sparkles on the card – it was a bit difficult to capture in the photo, but looks so lovely as it glints in the light.
