As You See It challenge – Christmas recipe

Hello crafty friends and welcome to my second post today – this time with our new challenge at As You See It which is a recipe devised for us by Jane and perfect for Christmas or celebration cards. I’ll therefore also be sharing this one with Merry Little Christmas challenge

The key thing about our recipe challenges is that you must include all the listed elements on your card, so here we go! I decided to go with the ‘Noel baubles aperture’ die from Clarity‘s Craft Club a couple of years ago (you can find it on their website here) and cut it into the front of a black 6×6 card blank. I fixed a small square of ‘Toffee Apple’ designer paper to the inside of the card front to cover the aperture. Now the next step was a challenge as Clarity don’t make embossing folders, so I turned to the embedders and used two of them to emboss a raised frame around the aperture.

I cut a border for the card front using a frame-it die (the new ones of these cut a mat with the frame at the edge, so I cut out the centre with a nested square die) and glued it into place (the Quickie glue pens are perfect for this). I still needed to add some ribbon or twine and I found a piece of olive green ribbon that had gold edging in my stash (it looks all gold in the photo), tied it into a small bow and attached it to the top of the large bauble.

So that’s all five elements on this card! How will you use our recipe? Hop over to As You See It if you need a bit more inspiration from my design team-mates and then come and play along with us.
