Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card features the ‘birch trees two way overlay’ stamp set from ClarityCrafts with just a simple scene that I felt reflected the verse. I thought it also picked up the essence of the quote at Time Out and it fits with Happy Little Stampers stencil challenge and Just Us Girls request to only use the centre of the card.
The first step was to create an frame on the front of a 6×6 card blank with a square embedder. I then positioned the largest square from the A4 aperture mat stencil in the centre of the embedded frame, using low tack tape to protect the exposed areas of the card. I brushed ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxide across the hills mask and ‘speckled egg’ across the clouds mask to create the landscape.
I stamped the trees outline into place using ‘watering can’ Archival ink, then sponged ‘pumice stone’ and ‘hickory smoke’ Distress Oxides onto the infill stamp and added that. Now this is where I realised my mistake – I should have stamped the trees first and masked them off before adding the landscape so that the hills didn’t cut through the middle of the trees!
I added shadow to the side of the trees with grey Polychromo pencils, then stamped the verse onto the card front using black Archival ink (which fortuitously helped to disguise the hill running through the trees!)
