vintage car

Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card is a bit of a departure for me as I’ve used a digital image on it, but a friend wanted a birthday card making and I didn’t have a suitable stamp or die! What I have done, though, is utilised one of my favourite ClarityCrafts stencils – the ‘treescape’ for the background.

So let’s start with the background. I attached the stencil to a square of card, positioned a large circle mask underneath it and blended ‘rustic wilderness’, ‘carved pumpkin’ and ‘ripe persimmon’ Distress Oxides through it. I kept the ink focused towards the centre and right hand panels, as I was trimming it down to fit an A5 card blank. I lifted the stencil away from the card (keeping it attached with the masking tape hinge) and cleaned the ink off. I switched the circle mask for the outer part, laid the stencil back down and lightly brushed ‘scattered straw’ Distress Ink across to create the sun.

Having trimmed down the stencilled background, I added a black mount and attached it to the card blank. I printed off the image of the vintage card, fussy cut it, added pieces of scrap card to the back and attached it to the card front, finishing with an appropriate word sticker.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m heading off to share this card with the challenges at Color Throwdown, having used their current palette, and Time Out for their ‘vintage’ theme.

  2. Your journey begins with a ride through the forest in a vintage car. I love that stencil and the soft inking. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Time Out.
