moonlit Santa

Hello there! I’m back with another of the new ‘Linda’s Christmas Compendium’ sets from ClarityCrafts – it won’t surprise you to find out that this set is called ‘Father Christmas’ and I’m going to share it as another offering at The Holly & Ivy challenge. Santa’s bright colours against the neutral background also fit the ‘spotlight’ theme over at Just Add Ink adn he’s an obvious choice for Inkspirational‘s new word prompt of ‘cold’.

So, I started by stamping the large Santa in black Archival ink onto a square of kraft card. I cut a mask for him out of Clarity’s mask material, then brushed ‘pumice stone’ Distress Oxide across the hills mask, followed by ‘picket fence’ across the mountains mask to create the background. I sponged a little grey ink along the bottom of the Santa mask to ground him, then added the outer part of a large moon mask and brushed more of the ‘picket fence’ into that.

I then set about colouring Santa, his sack and the toys with Pergaliner pencils, adding yellow to the candle in his lamp and using a white Pergamano pencil for the fur on his coat and his beard.

I stamped ‘Noel’ across the moon and shaded that with a red Pergaliner. To finish, I added a narrow layer of white paper and a mount of red card that I’d edged with a black Sharpie, then attached the whole piece to a 6×6 kraft card blank.

On reflection, I feel I should have subtitled this post ‘now where have those pesky reindeer gone?’!
