O for Owl at Alphabet Challenge

Hello crafty friends and welcome to our new theme at Alphabet Challenge – we’ve now reached O and Meg has opted for ‘owl’. ClarityCrafts ‘feathered friends’ stamp set had the perfect solution with this trio of owls, which I paired with one of the ‘Christmas rounds’ stencils which means I can also share this at Stencil Fun (and it includes their optional twist of orange!). I’ve also picked up the autumn theme from The Card Concept and the owl from TGIF challenges inspiration photo.

I started with a piece of stencil card that I taped to the wreath stencil before running it through my embossing machine, which just gives the stencil design a little more definition. I then sponged ‘walnut stain’, ‘ripe persimmon’ and ‘festive berries’ Distress Oxides through the stencil, blending the colours together.

I stamped the owl trio to sit at the bottom of the wreath, using ‘potting soil’ Archival ink, and coloured them with my trusty Pergaliner pencils, adding grey shading around them for depth. I then mounted the card onto a layer of orange and attached it to a 6×6 card blank, finishing with a sentiment from the ‘essential sentiments’ stamp set.

This card’s already headed off to a crafting buddy to accompany my ATC (artist’s trading card) for this month’s ‘feathered friends’ swap on the Clarity Worldwide Facebook page.
