As You See It challenge – use vellum

Hello crafty friends! Our new theme at As You See It challenge is to use vellum on your projects. Well, I don’t use vellum or parchment very often, but when I do I’m usually stamping or heat embossing on it and the latest Christmas stamps from ClarityCrafts were ideal.

The first step was to tear a strip of parchment – I used the deckle edge on Clarity’s blending mat. I stamped and heat embossed the tree with WOW’s bright white superfine powder, then cut a mask for the tree from Clarity’s mask material so I could stamp & emboss a second one. I added the sentiment from the set and one of the small robins from the ‘winter wishes’ stamp set.

I then used Pergacolour pens to add colour on the reverse of the parchment behind the trees, the sentiment and the robin. I scored a fold down each side of the parchment so that I could then bend it around the sides of a piece of Amazonia designer paper – I added a dot of Perga glue behind each of the trees and the robin (it doesn’t show through the colouring) and used red liner tape to attached the parchment flaps to the rear of the paper.

I finished with a coordinating layer of Amazonia companion paper and attached the whole piece to a 7×7 card blank.

So how do you like to use vellum (or parchment) in your projects? Come and share your creations with us at As You See It – there’s more inspiration from my design team-mates if you need it to get you started. See you in the gallery! Now I’m off to share this one in the galleries at Happy Little Stampers and Peace on Earth

  1. What a great way to highlight your images against the background, the vellum both softens and highlights simultaneously. That sweet robin is my favourite though – the perfect balance to your trees!
