Clarity craft club lookback – floral decoration stencil

Hello crafty friends. I managed to find a bit of time to dip back into Clarity‘s craft club and have now started on my stencils, after coming to the end of the dies last week. I only joined the stencil club at the end of 2021, so am starting with #91, the ‘floral decoration’. I opted to use the colours from Just Add Ink and will also share it with Happy Little Stampers for their stencil challenge.

I started by taping the stencil to a piece of Clarity’s 7×7 stencil card, using masking tape to created a hinge along the side. I then blended ‘wilted violet’ & ‘kitsch flamingo’ Distress Oxide through the floral sprays, trying to stay away from the leaves. I opened the hinge out so I could clean the ink off the stencil (if you spray it with water, remember to dry the underside as well before you put it back on your card…!), then blended ‘evergreen bough’ onto the leaves.

I trimmed the stencil card down so it would fit on a 5×7 card blank, then sprinkled the floral sprays with WOW ultra high gold embossing powder. The easiest way to do this is to tip a little of the powder into the container lid, so you can pick up a pinch with your fingers, then carefully sprinkle it onto the area you want. I then use a fine paintbrush to sweep off those bits which have headed off where I didn’t want them to! It’s best to do all this while holding your card flat, then keep it level and heat the powder from underneath the card, so it doesn’t all blow away!

I mounted the card onto a coordinating piece of Northern Lights companion paper, then attached it to the 5×7 card blank. I finished by stamping one of the ‘occasions – congratulations’ sentiments several times on the card front with ‘watering can’ Archival ink, as I thought it would make a lovely wedding or engagement card.

I’ll be working through the stencil club over the next few weeks. Don’t forget that you can purchase back copies of Craft Club goodies on the website – it’s definitely worth a look!
