Welcome to my crafty blog and a first look at one of the brand new A5 quote postcards that ClarityCrafts are launching tomorrow. These would be great for framing as small pictures, or to use a toppers for cards. For today, I’ve left the postcard as it is, decorating it with the Japanese reeds A5 stencil
I started by using the rectangle mask to create a frame on the postcard, together with one of the circle masks. I then blended ‘speckled egg’ Distress Oxide across the clouds mask & ‘iced spruce’ across the hills mask to create a background landscape.
I kept the outer mask in place & laid the stencil over the top, so that I could sponge ‘carved pumpkin’ & ‘iced spruce’ Distress Oxides through the reeds. I used the outer part of the circle mask in the sky and lightly brushed more of the ‘carved pumpkin’ across it.
I felt it needed a frame and initally doodled one with a micron pen, but decided it didn’t look quite right, so I used a ruler and a black Sharpie to go over it, which looked more balanced.
I think these are really fun cards, with so many creative opportunities. The quotes are also available as stamp set which increases the potential even further! Barbara will be on Create & Craft TV tomorrow at 9am & 1pm (Friday) to start to put these through their paces.
I’m going to share this one with a few current challenges as well – Addicted to CAS have got ‘masking’ as their theme, Time Out are looking for words of encouragement, and I’m adding it as a final offering for Stencil Fun‘s challenge.
Ah, this is a pretty one! Love the simplicity!
