bijou midnight rose

Welcome to my crafty blog and another look at one of the new bijou two-way overlay linocut stamps from ClarityCrafts – this time, the ‘midnight rose’ set.

I’ve kept it very clean and simple on this one, first stamping the background image in ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide onto a 5×5 card blank. I then added the second overlay stamp in ‘worn lipstick’.

I wanted to frame the image, and turned to the small plastic embedder from Clarity’s ‘bijou card & envelope’ set. It was the right width, but not quite long enough so I needed to extend it. To do this, I lined it up with the bottom of the image, turned the card over and ran my embossing tool around the lower edge and part-way up each side. I then moved the embedded up slightly to the right position at the top, keeping it within the side frame I’d already created, turned the card over again and finished embossing around the top and sides.

All I then needed to do was add the sentiment in ‘chipped sapphire’ together with the little stamped dots.

I’m going to share this one over at Less is More for their ‘anything goes’ theme. I made a second version of this one, using ‘carved pumpkin’ and ‘wilted violet’ Distress Oxides as I thought the colours at Color Hues would also work really well.

  1. These are pretty fabulous, Deborah! I love the way you embedded the image to make a frame! Both look wonderful! As always thanks for linking up at Color Hues.

  2. It’s a great card design, and both cards are wonderful! I admit to being partial to the Tangerine and Violet, however. Thanks for sharing with us at Color Hues!
