Hello crafty friends. I’m back with a second card today (this is becoming a regular occurrence!) courtesy of our new theme of ‘at the beach’ at As You See It challenge. Despite the fact that I’d picked this one back at the beginning of the year, I was struggling for inspiration until I remembered ClarityCrafts ‘by the seaside’ mixed impressions stamp set. I’ve taken the layout from CAS Colours & Sketches and picked up ‘orange’ from Less is More, together with texture (in the stamping), sand, sea & square card from the ‘national beach day’ inspo list at Festive Friday.
I’ve got a whole box of white card offcuts from trimming down pieces of cardstock so thought I ought to make a start on using some of them (well, one at least!) I added ‘ripe persimmon’, ‘dried marigold’ & ‘broken china’ Distress Oxides to the middle sized stamp from the ‘by the seaside’ set, evening the inks out with a sponge, and then stamped it onto a panel sized piece of card. I burshed a little more of the ‘broken china’ around the top of the card to soften the white. I’d had the ‘at the sea’ masks from the ‘build a scene’ set out on my desk, so used the waterline one to add the sea off my beach.
I switched to another of the masks in the ‘at the sea’ set, which has a lighthouse in it. I lined up the mask along the edge fo the beach and put low tack tape along the side of it as I didn’t want the row of buildings that continued along. I lightly sponged black Versafine Clair ink through it, although I now wish I’d used a light grey so it didn’t look so heavy. I ran a black Sharpie around the card egdes and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.
It took me a little while to find the right sentiment – in the end I went with ‘dream’ from the A6 ‘flyaway boy’ stamp set.
This beach looks more like Brighton than the Bahamas, but the lighthouse took me back to our recent travels in Australia, particularly the day we did the coastal walk from Port Macquarie – nine kilometres across a number of beaches to reach the Tacking Point lighthouse! And then we still had to walk back to the town – rather a long day that unsurprisingly ended in a bar!
So come on over to As You See It and share your beach themed creations with us – there’s some fab creations from my design team-mates if you need a bit of inspiration to get you started.
Aw, love this, Deb – such a beautiful scene you created – fabulous use of colors! Love this design, too – so much drama!

Love what you have created with all of these challenges as your inspiration. Your story that goes with the inspiration is inspiring on its own. 9 Kilometers one way, converts to 5.5 miles – that does make for a long day, getting in your exercise and all your steps for the month – definitely deserves the reward of a spiked wet beverage. Sounds like an all around great trip. Thanks for sharing your inspiration and card with us at CC&S

The layering of colour on this card is just fabulous Deborah – the ‘texture’ really brings this scene to life and the single word sentiment sums it up. A spectacular CAS creation – and a great take on the CC&S sketch too!
