summer birthday

Hello crafty friends. Apologies for the late post today – I’ve been at meetings in London, followed by a debriefing session in the pub! Hopefully I can still type straight… I’ve pulled several challenges together on today’s card, using a couple of ClarityCrafts stamps sets. Inspire.Create want cards with a summer theme and the ‘red & yellow’ colour scheme from Color Hues seemed ideal. The Paper Players want CAS cards featuring insects and Inkspirational‘s theme is ‘iridescent’, both of which worked for my butterfly.

I am trying to get better at using some of my stash, and found another inky mop-up in my folder that was the right colours! I stamped the grass and two of the flowers sets from the ‘KISS meadow flowers’ onto the card using ‘watering can’ Archival ink.

I then stamped one of the ‘butterflies & birds silhouette miniatures’ stamps in black Versafine Clair and heat embossed it with WOW’s ‘cranberry sparkle’ powder.

I stamped one of the ‘essential sentiments’ in the ‘watering can’, ran a black Sharpie around the card edges and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. Nothing else needed!

I love the way these embossing powders change tone depending on what colour you put underneath them. Using the black ink really brought out the iridescent sparkle on the butterfly.

  4. Deborah, you are not only the queen of scenes, but of fabulous mop-ups! How fortunate you had the perfect colors and the silhouetted scene worked wonderfully for a CAS setting. LOVE that butterfly, the sparkle is incredible! So glad your debriefing didn’t interfere with joining us at Color Hues lol! Thanks for playing along!
