winter trees

Welcome to my crafty blog and anothe card showcasing the new ‘Linda’s Christmas Compendium’ stamp sets from ClarityCrafts – today I’ve used the trees from the ‘glistening winter’ set for a card that would work well for a winter birthday, rather than Christmas.

As first step, I stamped the trees onto a piece of card that I’d trimmed to fit a 5×7 card blank, starting with the single large tree in the centre, then repeating the row of three on each side. I then cut out the centre of the image with a nested square die.

I used Clarity’s stencil brushes to add Distress Oxides to the die cut square, using ‘mowed lawn’ for the ground then blending ‘salvaged patina’, broken china’ & ‘chipped sapphire’ into the sky. I mounted the square onto a narrow layer of white card which I’d edged with a black Sharpie.

I attached the background to a 5×7 card blank. I glued a small square of scrap card onto the back of the topper to lift it, then glued it back into place over the aperture on card front.

I do like this spotlight technique – it would work well with lots of stamps. I’m sharing this little creation with the ‘colourful’ challenge at Time Out and the ‘outdoors’ theme at Simply Clean & Simple
