art nouveau sunrise

Hello crafty friends and welcome to a very optimistic card today! I’m currently away at a Christian festival in Kent and it’s barely stopped raining since we got here (very grateful that we decided to stay in a hotel and not camp on site!!) I do love the art nouveau series from ClarityCrafts – Barbara will be showcasing them on Create & Crafts TV on Sunday afternoon, together with a few new goodies.

I decided to use the sunrise stamp from the ‘congratulations & think of you’ set on this card, picking up three of the colours (green, blue & orange) from Color Dare‘s inspiration photo together with the right hand diagonal (shape, diecut, patterned paper) from TicTacToe‘s grid

The first step was to stamp the Art Nouveau Sunrise onto Toscana parchment (on the dull side, not the shiny inky side) using black Archival ink. I then lifted the colour from behind the trees and sun on the shiny inky side using an ink rubber.

I could then add colour back into the erased areas with Pergaliner pencils, to really highlight the scene. I filled in the tree stems & the outer stamped frame with black micron pen. Once the scene was finished I trimmed the parchment down and mounted it on 6×6 card blank behind a white square frame that I’d cut with nested dies.

I finished it with a black ‘nested square doodle frame-it’ die cut, which sat around the edge of the white frame, and a black KISS word sticker.

I’m looking forward to seeing more inspiration from the Clarity design team on Sunday’s TV shows. Meanwhile, my decision to go with this scene today clearly worked as there’s been definite patches of blue sky throughout the day after yesterday’s downpours!
