Clarity Craft Club lookback – meadow frame die

Well here we are at Sunday again, so I’ve delved back into ClarityCrafts Craft Club and today picked up ‘Jilly’s meadow frame’ aperture die from May 2022. As it happens, Clarity’s Jilly was demonstrating watercolour backgrounds at the Open Day last month, so it seemed appropriate to pick up that technique to complement her die design. I’ve gone with two colourways, thanks to the challenges at Color Throwdown and Creative Colour Challenges, plus a further offering for TGIF Challenges ‘sunny days’ theme and Happy Little Stampers watercolour challenge.

I started with a small square of watercolour card and used the outer part of one of Clarity’s ‘mini moons’ masks to sponge a sun into place in ‘mustard seed’ Distress Oxide. I covered it with the circle mask, then spritzed the card with water and used a waterbrush to add ‘broken china’, ‘mowed lawn’ and ‘picked raspberry’ Distress Oxides across the rest of the background. I then cut the frame die into a small square of Clarity’s stencil card and glued the watercolour background into place behuind it, having dried that off with my heat gun first.

I mounted it on a layer of Waimea Falls companion paper and attached it to a 5×5 card blank, finishing with a word sticker.

I followed exactly the same process for the second card, but this time used ‘salvaged patina’, ‘twisted citron’ & ‘festive berries’ Distress Oxides

This was fun to do – I could quite happily have sat and made several more!
