happy henna birthday

Welcome to my crafty blog and some new stamps that arrived in a happy parcel this week – ‘Tina’s happy birthday henna‘ set from ClarityCrafts. I decided to go with the rich colours at Color Throwdown and the sketch from Just Add Ink, incorporating the ‘three of something’ theme from Just Us Girls

I started by stamping three of the henna elements onto a pice of white card trimmed to fit a 6×6 card blank, and added the sentiment as well. I then coloured the images using Pergaliner pencils and a grey Polychromo.

I wanted to keep the dessign ‘clean & simple’, but thought it needed something more so found my ‘snowdrop doodle round’ stencil. As I’d already coloured in the henna designs, I quickly cut masks for them from an all-over sticky note and then positioned the stencil across the top corner of the card (it’s frameless, so I used low tack tape to fix the bottom of the card and the outer part of the stencil to a piece of copy paper so the tape didn’t get in the way.) I brushed ‘shadow grey’ Archival ink across the stencil, then just ran a black Sharpie down either side of the card and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m a bit late posting this, but it’s been raining here all afternoon and I got engrossed on some new projects at my crafting desk!

Update – I’ve retaken the photos as well, so you can see the colours better!

  1. I am impressed that you made this beauty work so well for 3 different challenges. Love the stencil in the background and it is perfect for the focal images.
