Japanese butterfly love

I’m back with the last of my design team samples for the new Japanese Flowers and Butterflies collection from ClarityCrafts, that was launched on Wednesday. They absolutely flew off the shelves during the TV shows, which was no surprise to me as they’re so lovely! I’ve combined the butterfly and symbol from the ‘love’ set with the new circular stencil that comes in a set with it, and I’m going to share this card with the stencil challenges at Happy Little Stampers and Stencil Fun

I fished one of my inky mop up pieces on Clarity’s small square stencil card out of my stash, that had blue & green inks on it and then blended ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxide through the stencil, which I’d sat across the bottom of the card.

I stamped the butterfly onto the card and then coloured it with Pergaliner pencils – I’d originally gone with a light blue & pink, but didn’t like the blue so blended pink over the top of it to get the purple! I used a micron pen to colour in the body and the circles on the butterfly’s wings

I used my grey polychromo pencils to add shadow around the butterfly, then stamped the Japanese love symbol into place, before running a Sharpie around the card edges and attaching it to a 6×6 card blank.

Now my original plan had been to finish there, but I felt it needed something more so added a diecut from the ‘nested doodle frame-its’ in white, which did the job perfectly!.

Thanks for dropping in. It’s been a busy week with the all samples for the new Japanese Flowers & Butterflies collection, but normal service will be resumed tomorrow!

  1. I love anything Japanese especially food and flowers so this card really spoke to me, about the flowers, not the food lol. Beautiful design and dreamy colours I can see why the set sold out so quickly.
