H for humour at Alphabet Challenge

The weeks are just going by so fast and it’s already time for our new theme at Alphabet Challenge. Today we’ve reached H and Billie has opted for ‘humour’ on our cards. I do love these cheeky gnomes from ClarityCrafts and took the opportunity to get another Christmas card under my belt, assisted by the colours at Color Hues and the ‘anything goes’ theme at Christmas Craft Creations

I started with the circle of stars from Clarity’s Christmas Rounds stencil set, attached it to white card and sponged ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide through it. After removing the stencil, I brushed more of the navy ink around the card edges, to leave the stars highlighting the centre.

I stamped three of the gnomes onto scrap piece of white card, colouring them with a navy Pergaliner pencil and a dark red Pergacolour pen, adding shading with a grey polychronmo pencil. Once coloured, I used the co-ordinating dies to cut them out and stamped in the letters with the ‘Gnomes Letterbox’ set. (I was smiling already at this point!)

I then focused on putting it all together! I mounted the stencilled card on a layer of ‘Rainbow River’ companion paper and then onto a 7×7 card blank. I glued offcuts of scrap card to the backs of the gnomes, to give them a little more dimension, and then added them to the card front. I found a couple of appropriate word stickers from the KISS set, which I edged with a Sharpie before sticking to the card. the final touch was to add a few dark red Glossies around the stencilled stars.

Now I can’t decide whether the poor gnomes have just misunderstood the traditional Christmas greeting (after all, English is not their first language!) or whether they’ve just discovered the joys of a full Christmas dinner…! What do you think?
