Hello there! I need to replenish my supplies of new baby cards, so have done a two-for-one today using ClarityCrafts’ ‘adorable baby’ stamp set. I love this washing line stamp with all the baby clothes, which I thought would work for the sketch over at Atlantic Hearts challenge. I picked up the watercolour challenge from Happy Little Stampers, using two different colour schemes from TGIF challenges and CAS Colours & Sketches

The first step was to stamp the line of baby clothes onto a square of Clarity’s stencil card. I needed to extend the washing line to go across the width of the card so masked off the end of the first image with low tack tape (covering the socks) and then added the little vest. The plan was to join up the washing line, but I didn’t quite manage it!

I used the pre-cut masks that come with the set to cover up the baby clothes, then used Clarity’s clouds mask to add a background sky with a blending brush – ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide on one and ‘squeezed lemonade’ on the other. I then added a bow on the washing line with a micron pen to disguise the part where I hadn’t quite joined the lines up perfectly!

The next step was to watercolour the clothes using Distress Oxides and a waterbrush – ‘picked raspberry’ and ‘squeezed lemonade’ on the left hand one, with ‘bundled sage’ and ‘ripe persimmon’ on the right.

Once dry, I stamped the sentiment onto both cards. I edged the pink & yellow one with a black Sharpie and mounted the green & orange one onto a layer of dark blue Rainbow River companion paper, before attaching them both to 6×6 card blanks.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ve spent this afternoon having afternoon tea on a boat on the Thames, celebrating the 900th anniversary of the founding of St Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1123 (the oldest in London) where I did my training – it’s always great to reconnect with friends & people I’ve worked with over the years and what a fabulous way to celebrate!
