a winter scene

A wintery card in June? Well, this is the time of year when all the crafters get seriously busy with their Christmas cards and there are lots of new release stamps coming through – the ClarityCrafts team with be on Create & Craft TV tomorrow with some brand new designs. Before then, I’ve picked up Clarity’s latest design of the week – the winter scenes collection drawn by Jayne Nestorenko. This one is the Cat A5 square set and I’ve used the colours from Creative Colour Challenges, the ‘outdoor activity’ theme from AAA cards and green, hearts & peace sentiment from Festive Friday‘s inspo list

I started with a 7×7 card blank, created a frame with the largest of Clarity’s square embedders and then heat embossed the cottage landscape with WOW’s bright white powder, adding the largest of the trees in the foreground. I dug out the sentiment from one of the Christmas gnomes stamp sets, together with a star from one of the new sets launching tomorrow and heat embossed those as well.

I stamped the little cat and two of the birds from the winter scene set, this time using black Versamark Clair ink. I love the cat image – he’s definitely engaged in an outdoor activity! I found two Pergaliner pencils that were the closest match to Creative Colours’ palette and added shading around the images, using the olive green around the landscape and the lighter green on the trees, together with a little white shading on the cottage roof.

The final touch was a couple of heart Glossies that were sitting on my desk (but I’m not sure the birds are feeling the love…!)

These stamps are a great bargain at the moment, with 30% off on Clarity’s website. I’ll be back tomorrow to share some inspiration for their new Christmas bauble sets.

  1. Wow, love the white embossing and how that little bit of color just changes the look of your whole scene. What a great and unique CAS card! Thanks for playing along with us at Festive Friday!
