a dangly birthday!

Hello crafty friends. I’m a bit late posting a card today – lots on at the moment! I’ve used ClarityCrafts’ ‘birthday dangles’ stamp – it’s no longer available as a stamp, but is still in a Groovi plate for parchment craft (although currently this week’s WIGIG – When It’s Gone, It’s Gone!), so it won’t be around for long either. The current challenge over at Inspire.Create is to make a card for a baby or child, and I thought this would be perfect for a little girl. I’ve also tied in Inkspirational‘s theme of embossing and Happy Little Stampers birthday challenge, for good measure.

I started with a piece of Clarity’s ‘Waimea Falls’ designer parchment, which I trimmed down to fit on a 7×7 card blank. I dusted it well with an anti-static pad and then stamped the ‘birthday’ onto the inked side (which is the side the parchers would usually work on and is a bit brighter) with WOW clear ink. I used my stamping platform for this – I’m always in danger of the stamp slipping when I work on parchment! I heat embossed the image with WOW bright white powder.

I added a few of the dangles that are part of the set to hang down from the word, again stamping in clear ink and heat embossing with WOW’s bright white powder. I wanted to make the word stand out a bit more on the background, so coloured the letters using a Pergaliner pencil and then smoothed that out with a blending nib and Dorso oil – it really sharpens the colours as well.

I needed to let the parchment rest for a little while as it had warped with the heat from the heat gun (I sat it under a heavy box for an hour). Once flatter, I ran glue around the edge and behind the letters and stuck it to the 7×7 card front. I then took the largest frame from the nested square doodle frame-its die set and glued that into place.

It really didn’t need anything else adding – the stamp does all the work on the bacground parchment.
