scots pine birthday

Welcome to my crafty blog and a card using the new ‘scots pine floral panel’ stamps from ClarityCrafts (another one I ‘invested’ in at their Open Day last weekend!) I’ve kept this one fairly simple again, picking up the challenges from The Card Concept and Seize the Birthday

I started with a square of white card and positioned one of the smaller stamps in the corner, stamping it in ‘library green’ Archival ink. I used my stamping platform to do this, so then all I needed to do was rotate the card to stamp the image in each corner.

I’ve had some Staedler fineliner pens sat on my shelves but barely used them, however they came into their own for this one. I coloured the pinecones with the brown fineliner, following Barbara Gray’s technique from when she launched these stamps on TV. The trick is to just colour the underparts of the cones, which gives them dimension. I used the green fineliner to shade in the stems.

I layered the card onto a square of green ‘Waimea Falls’ companion paper and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. I stamped one of the ‘oaccsions sentiments’ in the ‘library green’ onto a strip of white card, trimmed the ends into a banner and attached it to the card front, using a scrap of card behind it to lift it slightly.

I had planned to share this yesterday, but got flattened by a stomach bug instead! Still, better late than never.

Your card looks wonderful. I love the shade of green used for stamping and the minimal coloring you’ve done on it elevates it. Thank you so much for joining us at the Seize the Birthday challenge with this sweet card!
