F for flying at Alphabet Challenge

Hello crafty friends. We have a new theme for you at Alphabet Challenge and this time it was my turn to choose it. As we’ve reached F, I went for ‘flying’ – just incorporate anything that flies into your card. I’ve used the ‘brighten your day flowers’ stamps from ClarityCrafts‘ KISS (keep it simple stamping) collection – I love these little graphic style butterflies, which have worked well with the colours from Creative Colour Challenges

You’ll know I’ve been concentrating on my backgrounds recently, and for this card I found an inky mop-up piece in my stash which had the right colours. I trimmed it down and stamped the flowers, dotted strip and butterflies from the set onto it, using black Versafine Clair ink.

I shaded in the flowers and butterflies using Pergaliner pencils – green and lilac for the flowers, with navy and green on the butterflies. With hindsight, I wish I’d not added the green to the butterflies and just used the navy, but hey ho!

I blended a little ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide around the edge of the card, then mounted it onto a layer of navy card and attached it to a 7×7 card blank, finishing with a couple of word stickers.

This is a lot less complex than yesterday’s card! Come on over and play along with us at Alphabet – we’d love to see your creations in our gallery. The F for flying theme runs for the next two weeks.

  1. Your square cards are always intriguing. Between the stamping and the colors this one is so very sweet. Our extra postage charge for square always gives me pause when determining if I make one or not

  2. Butterflies – the perfect answer to the challenge of flight! I love the doodled feel of those flowers too – it adds a great touch of whimsy to your sweet card Deborah!
