Hello crafty friends. Today’s card features one of the poetry frame stamp sets from ClarityCrafts – these sets are their design of the week so currently have a very tempting 30% off. I’ve gone with a one layer card today, inspired by the theme at Addicted to CAS and picking up the colours from Global Design Project. I thought it looked really summery as well, so will share it with Inkspirational‘s seasonal challenge.

As it’s a one layer card, I started by creating a frame on a 5×7 card blank using one of the rectangular embedders. These are so useful – attach the plastic embedder to the front of the card with a little low tack tape, then flip the card open and run an embossing tool around the inside against the embedder. I then lined up the stamp on the card using my stamp platform, masking off the top part of the frame with tape before I inked it so the top of the image was open. Top tip – don’t forget to take the tape off before you stamp the image (ask me how I know…!!)

I gave the ink a couple of minutes to dry and then coloured the image using Pergaliner pencils in GDP’s colours.

I felt it needed a little something in the background, so lightly brushed ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide aross Clarity’s ‘hills’ mask to ground the flowers, together with ‘broken china’ across the ‘clouds’ mask for a light sky. I also added a drop shadow around the flowers and leaves using a grey pencil, so it didn’t look quite so flat.

The final touch was to stamp the verse in the centre, adding a couple of simple birds with a micron pen.

Thanks for dropping in. Here’s the a summary of all the products I used:
