grunge stars

Hello there! Bit of a change in style for me today with a masculine card using one of the ‘grunge shapes’ stamps from Clarity’s May Craft Club. I’ve taken the colours from Creative Colour Challenges, the layout from Atlantic Hearts (I swapped the flowers for stars!) and the theme from The Paper Players

I started with an inky mop-up piece from my stash (I generally use Clarity’s stencil card for this job, as it takes water quite well) that was in browns & yellow. I trimmed it down to fit a 7×7 card blank and randomly stamped two of the ‘doodle disc framer’ stamps onto it using ‘potting soil’ Archival ink. I then added the star from the ‘grunge shapes’, again in the ‘potting soil’ but using both first and second generation stamping so that some were lighter.

I ran a black Sharpie around the edge of the card and mounted it onto a layer of white to give a narrow frame. I then added a larger layer of dark brown card and attached the whole piece to a white 7×7 card blank.

I stamped the star image three more times onto a scrap piece of white card using ‘mustard seed’ Distress Oxide and fussy cut them out. They went onto the card front using foam pads, finishing with one of Clarity’s word stickers.

My other resolution for the coming months (in addition to using more stencilled backgrounds) is to make better use of the large pile of inky backgrounds I’ve accumulated when cleaning my craft mat – watch this space…!

  2. This is great Deborah. I often don’t like the grunge look too much, but the way you’ve done yours is beautiful and it makes for a wonderful masculine style card.
