doodle tile framers

Hello crafty friends. I was inspired by Barbara’s ‘Moment of Clarity’ event last night demonstrating the doodle circles & tiles stamps that are ClarityCrafts Design of the Week – they were still on my desk this morning so I decided to have another play with them. I picked up the colours and sketch from Inspired by for this card.

I started with a piece of card from my stash that I’d mopped up ink from my craft mat onto. I trimmed it down and then stamped two of the ‘doodle tile framer’ stamps onto it, using ‘paradise teal’, ‘potting soil’ and black Archival inks. The background was paler thank I’d orginally thought, without much detail, so I used two of the ‘grunge shapes’ stamps from May’s Craft Club to fill in the centres of the framers, using the same inks.

I still thought the background looked a bit plain, so decided to make it a bit more grungy (not very though – even my grungy work is still quite clean!) I picked up some ‘walnut stain’ Distress Oxide with my waterbrush and just flicked it over the card. I cut a mount in white card, brushed a patch of ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide onto it, stamped ‘happy birthday’ from the ‘bijou ribbon sentiments’ set over it and then attached the stamped topper to it.

I finished by layering the white card onto a piece of blue ‘Waimea Falls’ companion paper and then attached the whole piece to a 7×7 card blank.

Thanks for dropping in. These are such versatile stamps – there’s lots of mileage in them. If you didn’t catch Barbara last night, you can still watch it over on Clarity’s YouTube page here
