birthday cogs

Hello crafty friends. I’ve been busy today making a few masculine cards ready for friends with birthdays that are coming up, so thought I’d share one of them today. I’ve used the ‘clockwork aperture’ die from ClarityCrafts, which is so useful for men’s cards, with inspiration from Festive Friday (I picked up blue, masculine & die cuts from their list), TGIF challenges and Freshly Made Sketches

I started with the background for the card, cutting a mat of navy blue, layering it onto one of gold and attaching both to a 5×7 card blank. I then cut the ‘clockwork aperture’ die into a circle of the gold card that I’d cut with a nested die, and then glued it to the card front. On reflection, I wished I had positioned it a little higher, but hey ho!

I went back to my nested circle dies and cut a small one in white with a mat in the gold card, glued them together and then onto the card front. I took a couple of Clarity’s KISS word stickers, trimming the ‘best wishes’ in half and attaching it to the circle and then adding the other sticker below – I popped a narrow strip of card under the right side of that one so it sat level with the circle die cuts.

I used a scrap bit of the gold card to cut out part of the die and trimmed two cogs from it, which I glued to the top of the card to pick up the sketch, finishing with a few gold enamel dots.

I’m not sure what’s happened to me but that’s another card without any stamping – and I’ve only been back crafting after my holiday for the last week!

  1. Love your die cut cogs and they look really sharp against the blue background… beautiful handsome card. Don’t forget to share your card with us at Double Trouble “We Dare You” to create a masculine card. You don’t need Twisted Sister’s optional twist to enter. Hope to see you at Double Trouble and you will earn two chances to our random draw.
