Welcome to my second card of the day, this time for the new challenge at As You See It. It’s a speed challenge this week and Jan has given us an ‘outdoors’ theme. For a speed challenge, the card must be made in less than 10 minutes – you can gather all your products, cardstock, etc at the beginning, but the clock must start when you begin creating. These are never easy for me – my crafting style tends to be ‘evolving’ (ie making it up as I go along…!)

Anyway, I’ve risen to the challenge and decided to go with the ‘be still and listen’ die from ClarityCrafts. Die cuts are always great for a speed challenge! I managed to get organised enough to have most of what I needed before I started – and you’ll appreciate that I didn’t have time to take photos as I went along…

I started with a piece of Clarity’s stencil card and blended the three ink colours onto it, then trimmed it down to fit on a 6×6 card blank. I ran a black Sharpie around the edges and glued it to the card front. I then realised that I didn’t have a piece of card ready to cut the the die into (rookie error!), so quickly cut one with my paper trimmer and then cut the die into it. I added glue around the border of the die cut, plus on the back of the birds, flower heads & key bits of the words and then stuck it to the card front. I stopped the clock at the point I popped the card under a box to make sure the die cut stuck down firmly (I left it there for a while!)

I have to confess, there was a bit of a ‘craftermath’ on my desk when I’d finished – no time to put things away as I went along! In fact, it took me nearly as long to clear up as it did to make the card…

Speaking of which, you’ll need to know how long the card took me – well I finished with just over 9 seconds to spare!

So come on and join us, and don’t forget to say how long your card took to create. On a separate note, I’m taking a break from crafting now for a little while so this blog is having a holiday. I will be back though – see you in a few weeks!
My cards are like yours they usually evolve as I go along. Love this one it is very pretty.
