mint choc icecream

Hello crafty friends, I’ve got more sweet treats for you today! I’ve gone for mint choc icecreams on this card courtesy of Stampin’ Up!’s ‘share a milkshake’ set – my eldest son’s favourite flavour! I took inspiration from the sketch at The Paper Players, together with the moodboard from Inkspirational (they’ve got icecreams and chocolate toppings in the photos)

Now this card took me a lot longer to make than it should have, due to a major attack of indecision! I’d made the two diecut desserts first (easy), but then could not decide on backing papers & colours – I actually left them for a while and then came back to it. In the end I settled on a background from the new ‘dandy designs’ DSP (in Stampin’ Up!’s Saleabration) mounted on a layer of ‘mint macaron’ card and attached to a 5×7 card blank.

I cut a smaller piece of white card, added another mint mount and popped that onto the card. I due cut ‘happy’ in the ‘mint macaron’, glued the letters in place then added ‘birthday’ by masking part of a sentiment from ‘artistically inked’.

The final step was to add the little sundaes. I’d stamped the bowls in dark brown onto ‘crumb cake’ card, added the icecream in ‘mint macaron’ and the chocolate topping in ‘early espresso’. A few hearts stamped in ‘mint macaron’ finished it nicely.

So despite all my dithering on colours & cardstock, I think it turned out OK in the end?

  1. What a wonderful take on our moodboard! The mint background is a perfect stage for the adorable little sundaes. Cute and classy! Thank you so much for joining us at Inkspirational!
