Vacation activities for As You See It challenge

Welcome to my crafty blog and a new challenge over at As You See It. This time it’s ‘vacation activities’ and I’ve gone with the retired ‘half full’ set from Stampin’ Up! (I can’t remember how old this one is!) Now this may not have been what you immediately thought of in terms of a holiday activity, but I’ve got exciting travel plans for next year with friends, and it will definitely involve trips to wineries and vineyards (purely to support the local economies, you understand!)

I took the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for my layout and started by stamping the row of wine glasses twice onto a square of white card. I coloured them with a deep red alcohol marker, then added a layer of red card and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I stamped the wine bottle from the set, coloured it with the red and a grey alcohol marker then fussy cut it. I glued a scrap of card behind it before attaching it to the card front, to give it a little more dimension. I also added a die cut banner, again using a strip of card rather than foam pads.

I finished with the large wine glass, which I’d also coloured and fussy cut, gluing it to sit on the banner.

So how do you like to spend your holidays? Come on and join the fun with us at As You See It – there’s lots of inspiration from my design team-mates to get you started. Our challenge runs until Thursday 1st December and we’re then taking a break until the New Year.

  1. If you like wine tasting, you really must visit my corner of the planet some day! Kelowna, British Columbia is at the heart of wine country and there’s a winery on almost every corner! I love this take on the sketch challenge, too! Great job!

  3. This is such a creative take on the sketch Deborah – and such a good way to remind us the importance of supporting local industries when on vacation, especially if there’s wine involved!!
