all good things take time

Hello there! I’m back with another card using the latest Craft Club goodies from Clarity – this time it’s the pocket watch and sentiment stamps. I thought the sentiment worked well for the current theme of encouragement from Time Out challenges and picked up the colour palette from Hand Stamped Sentiments as well.

I was very happy to find a background stamped piece in my stash in the right colours! I think this must have been the second generation one using one of Clarity’s backdrop stamps (it looks like it was spritzed with water to loosen the ink)

I stamped the watch uusing black Versafin ink, then covered it with a mask I’d made from a sticky note. I then used Clarity’s hills mask and a brush to blend ‘speckled egg’ Distress Oxide onto the card to form the landscape behind the watch.

I left the mask on the watch and swapped the hills one for the lower half, so I could cover up the blended area, then stamped a few of the trees from Clarity’s ‘grunge trees’ set along the hills – the bushes were done just using the top of one of the trees.

I added colour to the watch using an orange Pergaliner pencil & a couple of grey Spectrum Noir, trying to get lots of shadow to make the watch surface look curved.

To finish, I trimmed the card down and ran a black Sharpie around the edge, then stamoed the sentiment into place and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. Oh, and I added a small flock of birds above the trees as well.

This is a bit of a different take on the pocket watch, but the sentiment made me think of waiting for good things to grow in the landscape!
