Hello there. Well it’s not been the day we’d planned, as the queue for the Queen’s lying-in-state was still closed early this morning. We decided that we couldn’t go later as we are already committed to something tomorrow morning and the queue was forecast to be up to 24 hours wait. So very disapppointing.
I stayed home this afternoon and crafted instead, using the ‘enjoy the moment’ set from Stampin’ Up! I took the layout from the the inspiration card at Global Design Project and am also going to share this with Hand Stamped Sentiments, as it picks up the feel from their autumn moodboard.

I started with a piece white card and blended a little ‘pumice stone’ Distress Oxide onto it, then stamped some dots with the same ink. I ran a strip of ‘weathered wood’ paper from Julie Hickey Designs across the bottom and attached the whole thing to an A6 card blank.

I stamped the poppy seedheads onto a scrap of white, blending Distress Oxides in ‘ripe persimmon’ and ‘walnut stain’ with a sponge. I added shading with a dark brown Pergaliner pencil and then fussy cut the image. I attached it to the card front with foam pads.

The sentiment went on as the final touch, stamping it in ‘potting soil’ Archival ink.

Thanks for dropping in. It’s been quite a poignant day with the change of plan.
Hi Deborah, Completely understand your thoughts and disappointment at not being able to pay your respects in person to the Queen, obviously not meant to be. Your card is lovely and very apt with poppies being the symbol of remembrance, Im sure whilst you crafted you were reflecting on the Queen’s long and wonderful life and you paid your own silent tribute.

Such a disappointment about not paying your respects to the queen! But you did spend your time creating a lovely card that really did a great job of showcasing the inspiration board with the colors and stamp you used. I had forgotten about this stamp set, I really like it! Thanks so much for joining the hand stamped sentiments challenge!
