Hello there – I’m back today with another card that is virtually all made from die cuts (I’m obviously getting into the swing of this now!) This one uses Stampin’ Up!’s ‘windmill’ and ‘tulips’ die. I CASE’d (copy & selectively edit) a layout I saw on SU’s website and used the current colour palette from Colour INKspiration over on Facebook.

I started by trimming down a piece of the ‘sunshine & rainbows’ dsp to fit an A6 card blank. I then cut several pieces of the tulips strip die, two in the yellow (I didn’t have ‘crushed curry’ so went with my nearest match) and two in ‘real red’. I stamped the sentiment (from ‘friends are like seashells’) on one of the yellow strips then glued all four together, alternating the colours. I then attached them across the bottom of the card front.

I then die cut the windmill in black and white card, glued the two main parts together and attached the sails with a brad, so that they turn. I attached it to the card front on foam pads, nestled under the the top row of tulips.

I finished by adding a couple of die cut clouds that are also in the ‘windmill’ die set.

I was inspired to make the windmill black & white by the old windmill I used to visit as a child, just outside my home town. It’s still working, and you can buy flour, etc, on visits. I do have to admit, though, that I’ve got the colours the wrong way round – the windmill should have been black & the sails white, but never mind. I haven’t been to North Leverton for years, so must try and visit next time I go to see my sister.
