just thinking of you

Hello crafty friends. I’ve been playing today with a new set from Stampin’ Up! – ‘flowering tulips’. I thought this set would work well with the colours from CAS Colours and Sketches and the new layout from Freshly Made Sketches. I’ve also included the elements from the current ‘recipe’ challenge over at As You See It – I always struggle a bit with these, as I can often work out how to include 3 or 4 of the items but 5 always seems to pose a real challenge. I’ve done it this time though!

I started with a 6×6 card blank and attached a layer of white card to the centre front. I cut two further narrow strips of card and coloured them with my SU Write marker in ‘mint macaron’ (the nearest I’ve got to ‘sea foam’). I ran them through the ‘tasteful textiles’ embossing folder (first point from the recipe) and then glued them down each side of the centre panel on the card front.

I stamped the tulips in ‘fresh freesia’ and the stalks & leaves in ‘mint macaron’, die cut them all (point 2 from the recipe) and glued them together to form a bunch. Once dry, I glued them onto the centre panel on the card. These are such pretty pastel colours, which ticks another box on AYSI’s recipe. (that’s 3!)

I stamped the ‘thinking of you’ sentiment (recipe point 4) from the set in black, die cut it with one of the ‘tasteful labels’ and sat it at the bottom of the flowers on a foam pad. I scattered a few Glossies around the flowers in the nearest shade I’d got to ‘flirty flamingo’ and finished with a small bow in black twine (number 5 from the recipe!)

Thanks for dropping in. I’m pretty happy with how this turned out – it took me a little while to work out how to get the tulip heads stamped (it’s a two-stamp process and the dilemma was which one to stamp first…) but I got there in the end.

  2. Very sweet, Deborah! The bunch of flowers is so prettily stamped and composed but what I really love is that textured Mint Macaron forming the borders of the panel. Thanks so much for joining in with us at As You See It Challenge.
