wonderful day

Hello crafty friends. I’m back with another card using Julie Hickey’s ‘fresh florals’ stamp set – these are definitely a favourite of mine! This creation has been inspired by the current grid over at TicTacToe challenge – I’ve gone down the left hand column with heart, birthday & gold.

I started by die cutting a heart in white card, and then stamped the various flowers from the ‘fresh florals’ set onto it, heat embossing them with WOW’s bright white superfine powder (I did them one at a time). I then coloured the flowers using a waterbrush and Distress Oxides in ‘chipped sapphire’, ‘mustard seed’ and ‘speckled egg’. This was a bit tricky as I had to angle the heart slightly in the light so I could see the white embossed edges of the flowers.

I then stamped several of the little heart from Julie’s ‘friendship flower’ set between the flowers and heat embossed them with ‘gold satin’ powder. At this point I decided that the yellow was not the right tone against the gold hearts, so went over those flowers with ‘dried marigold’ Distress Oxide, which looked much better. I attached the heart to the centre of a 6×6 card blank.

I finished by stamping the larger heart from ‘friendship flower’ twice above the heart and again heat embossed it with the ‘gold satin’ powder. I stamped one of Julie’s sentiments from her ‘stitched banner & sentiments’ set in ‘chipped sapphire’ onto a die cut banner and attached it across the bottom of the heart using foam pads.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m still trying to finish writing all my Christmas cards between work meetings, so this card was a nice relief from all that!

  1. What a sweet card Deborah! I can see why you enjoy using those flower stamps, they are very cute. And using them on a heart die cut is a clever design. Thanks so much for joining us at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge this week!
