holly inchie

Hello crafty friends – it’s another Christmas card today but a very very simple one! The current challenge over at AAA cards is to create a card featuring one inchie (ie all the pattern, sentiment, etc must be within a one inch square). I do like CAS cards but this is a bit of a stretch for me! I’ve got the new ‘winter cabin miniatures’ from Claritystamp, which includes a little holly leaf that was a perfect fit. I’ve teamed it with the new theme from Time Out challenges, as I think it definitely meets the requirement of ‘simplicity’.

I started by creating a one inch embossed recess on the front of an A6 card. I picked up a great tip from Barbara Gray, so cut a one inch square of scrap card and popped it on the card front with a little bit of low tack tape. I turned the card over and used a bone folder to run round the edge of the little square, which then embossed it onto the card front.

I then stamped the little holly sprig into the embossed square. I used Stampin’ Up! write markers to colour the stamp, as all my ink pads are too big to be able to get the leaves and berries in different colours.

I don’t have any sentiments small enough to fit in the square, so just added three small silver Glossies to finish.

I think it’s fine without a sentiment – holly leaves definitely say ‘Christmas’, don’t they?
