pink poppies

Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card uses several Clarity stamps, including two for the background. I haven’t used these ones much, but got inspired following Barbara Gray’s live demo last Friday evening. I based this card on two current blog challenges – the layout picks up the new sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches and the colour scheme is from Just Add Ink

I started by masking off a piece of white card that I’d trimmed to fit an A6 card blank, to give me the shape from CCAS’s sketch. I first stamped Clarity’s linocut landscape backdrop stamp across it using black Archival ink, and then added the colour (‘picked raspberry’ & ‘bundled sage’ Distress Oxides) which I’d dabbed onto a rectangle backdrop stamp using sponges.

I then stamped the poppies, again in black Archival. I used a waterbrush and piece of kitchen towel to remove the green ink from the flowerheads, and then coloured them with the ‘picked raspberry’.

To finish, I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed it with WOW’s metallic gold powder, together with a couple of the ‘chatter’ lines from Clarity’s ‘linocut alliums’ stamp set.

I am really growing to like these new linocut stamps from Clarity – I wasn’t sure about them at first but they do give a really nice effect now I’m getting the hang of them!

  1. How do you get the angle cut or shape (if you are masking) for the top of the card?
I like how your flower stems go below the angled area. It’s a very pretty card.
    Thanks
